Guided to Hope

“Guided to the Cross” Sermon Series

(Ash Wednesday) February 14 “Guided to the Cross” series begins, “Guided to Forgiveness” The sign of the cross points us in a new direction through forgiveness. Forgiveness is the bedrock upon what we build our faith in Christ, and forgiveness is the number one “calling card” of the cross. Receiving forgiveness should lead us to live lives of forgiveness. Guided to the cross, we are guided to forgiveness. Scriptures: Psalm 130; Colossians 1:11-14; Luke 7:36-50.

February 18 “Guided to the Cross” series- First Sunday in Lent. “Guided to Hope” Ironically, the cross is an element of hope for us even though it was initially a device of torturous execution. The hope we have in Jesus and his cross is a daily tenet to live by. People can see the hope we have in Jesus in the way we live our lives. Guided to the cross, we are guided to hope. Scriptures: Romans 8:24-25; Titus 2:11-14.

February 25 “Guided to the Cross” series- Second Sunday in Lent “Guided to Love” Love streamed forth from Jesus and the cross. The story of Jesus is at its heart a love story—God’s love for us and our love for Jesus. This story continues as we live in God’s love. Guided to the cross, we are guided to love. Scriptures: 1 John 4:7-16; John 3:11-17.
