September 3 “Get Out of Your Head” series begins: “Thoughts of Us” Paul states his gratitude and affection for the Philippian church in their work for Christ. In his thoughts of them, he prays for their continued growth and for them to live their life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Thinking of God’s thoughts of us found in His word can shape how we live. Scriptures: Psalm 8; Philippians 1:3-11, 27-30.
September 10 Get Out of Your Head series week 2: “Thinking Alike” Paul encourages the Philippians to be thinking alike in unity with believers and to have the same mind that was in Christ Jesus. This leads to humble, obedient, and sacrificial living with God at work in us. Thinking alike with Christ shapes how we live. Scriptures: Romans 12:9-21; Philippians 2:1-18.
September 17 Get Out of Your Head series week 3: “Past Thoughts” Thinking of his past with the “gains” he had, Paul disregards them in comparison to the value of knowing Christ. Leaving the past behind, he regards the righteousness found by faith in Christ. Past thoughts compared to a present faithful relationship with Christ shape how we live. Scriptures: Luke 9:57-62; Philippians 3:1-11.
September 24 Get Out of Your Head series week 4: “Forward Thinking” Paul shared that he was leaving the past behind and moving forward in God’s call upon him. Moving forward in God’s call upon us shows spiritual maturity. Forward thinking shapes how we live. Scriptures: Hebrews 12:1-2; Philippians 3:12-21.
