“Practicing the Way” Sermon Series

January 11 “Apprentice to Jesus” “Apprentice” is a term similar to “disciple,” but not quite the same. “Apprentice” can be described as a mode of education that is intentional, embodied, relational, and practice based. To be an apprentice of Jesus is to walk with Him in a posture of listening, learning, observation, obedience, and imitation. An apprentice to Jesus is to be practicing the way.  Scriptures: Mark 1:16-20; Matthew 7:13-14.

January 18 “Be with Jesus” As followers of Jesus, the way we are to be with him is through the Holy Spirit. How to be with Him is in His instruction, “Abide in Me, and I in you.” To be with Jesus is to be practicing the way.  Scriptures: Ephesians 3:14-19; John 15:1-8.

January 25 “Become Like Jesus” Spiritual growth involves the process of being formed into people of love in Christ. Christ followers are to arrange their life around becoming like Jesus, expressed through every aspect of their being. Becoming like Jesus is to be practicing the way. Scriptures: 1 Peter 1:13-16; Matthew 5:43-48.
