“Whatever Happens…” Sermon Series
September 1 “Whatever Happens…” series: “Trust God’s Guidance when Perplexed” In his second missionary journey, Paul and his companions experienced some “closed doors” by God, which was perplexing. God’s will and plan for our lives is sometimes perplexing, so we walk by faith. God knows what He is doing. Whatever happens, we can trust God for His guidance. Scriptures: Acts 16:6-10; Philippians 1:1-2.
September 8 “Whatever Happens…” series: “Invigorate Your Life Through Prayer” Prayer for us should be invigorating fellowship with the One who can fill us with energy to live for Him and praise Him better. To invigorate ourselves, we can apply what we learn from Scripture about prayer. Whatever happens, we can invigorate our life through prayer. Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Philippians 1:3-11.
September 15 “Whatever Happens…” series: “Forward the Cause of Christ” Advancing the gospel was all that was on Paul’s mind. In writing to the Philippians, early in the letter Paul speaks of spreading the gospel, confirming the gospel, proclaiming the gospel, defending the gospel; and he encouraged the Philippians to live in a manner worthy of the gospel. Whatever happens, we are to seek to advance the gospel of Christ. Scriptures: Luke 21:12-19; Philippians 1:12-26.
September 22 “Whatever Happens…” series: “Cultivate the Mind of Christ” God desires for us to see and understand the world as He does. It has been said that wisdom is having a view of things that mirrors the thoughts of God—thinking about things as Christ does. The world doesn’t care much about our opinions; they need people who have the mind, heart, attitude, and humility of Jesus. Whatever happens, we are to cultivate the mind of Christ in us and in the way we live. Scriptures: Philippians 1:27-30; Philippians 2:1-11.
September 29 “Whatever Happens…” series: “Let God Work in You” God is working inside followers of Christ. He does so by bringing the energy of Christ, working through the Holy Spirit, and by His Word. God works inside us as we ask Him to do so. We have the command to work out what God is working in us. Whatever happens, we are to work out what God is working in us. Scriptures: Hebrews 13:20-21; Philippians 2:12-24.
