Through Jesus it is a fact that sin no longer has dominion over us, and yet sin continues to wage those battles against us. Dealing swiftly and firmly with the first motions of our sinful human nature is essential in the battle for holiness, never considering that our fight against sin is at an end. Because the battle for holiness is ongoing, we are to be in pursuit of holiness.
